Digital Photography and Imaging | Week 9

Week 9

Lecture

Today Mr Fauzi taught about realism and surrealism.
Realism: The subject matter is an ordinary, common non-exotic matter that exists in the real world. No need to think outside the box.

Surrealism: A twist on realism, to distort what we consider reality into something more bizarre and dream-like. It doesn't obey the laws of logic and is filled with strange juxtapositions.

Figure 1.1: Realism (right) vs Surrealism (left), Week 9 (18/10/21)

In the digital era, it is easier to create digital surrealism, making it one of the top digital art styles.

How to:
  1. Sketch it out - laying the key elements of your vision
  2. Find reference images
  3. Question "Does this look real?"
  4. Be willing to learn new skills to make your idea come to life

Tutorial

Mr Fauzi showed a video tutorial on what we will be doing as our final project, but the focus for now is to be able to do simple animation. Its so cool ;-; He also showed some of the past students' works which were so cool also :,D...
